Guitar

I teach beginner guitar - this includes folks that have never even touched a guitar before, those that played in high school and looking to pick it up again, to those who know a few chords but are looking to move past that and work on finger picking and different strum patterns. We will learn songs that you will enjoy practicing because you will help pick them! If you are brand new to guitar there may be a few kiddo tunes thrown in to help you get started but we will move onto "grownup music" as fast as possible. This is a laid back class - my goal is not to get you to play the guitar perfectly it's to help you enjoy playing and feel confident enough to (eventually) play in front of people. I am also not very concerned with perfection, I have a disability with my fingers that allows me to play chords differently than others and it also makes some chords very painful, so I learned to adapt and find ways of playing my way. I do teach the traditional chords at first but if you are really struggling with a chord OR you also have some sort of handicap, then I will help you find a way to keep playing.

A few thoughts on practice...  Playing guitar uses a whole heck of a lot of muscle memory. To gain this muscle memory you MUST practice. It is my job to teach you what to practice, your job is to practice daily. You will not get better if you do not practice. I cannot force you or your child to practice. But I will give you ideas on how to make practicing more fun and help you learn songs you actually want to play over and over again. This being said... it is not my fault if you don't get any better. You have to put in the time to see results. By the way - what an awesome lesson to teach your kids:)
