Vocal Coaching

I'm gonna say this right off the bat - I am not a voice teacher! I cannot teach you, or your child, how to sing. I work with people who are already singing regularly in front of people and I help them take their God-given talents and hone them. I can help you stretch your range and teach you tricks on how to get around trouble areas. I can help you emote better through your voice and help you gain confidence on stage. Although I mainly work with vocalists who are already used to singing by themselves on stage, I also work with backup singers and singers who shy away from stages because of lack of confidence or stage fright.

The main difference between coaching and teaching is that YOU pick the curriculum, not me. I help you sound your best on songs that you already sing or know you will be singing in the future. I can also help you pick the right songs for the right occasion. Typically a coaching session would be one hour a week where we work really hard on one or two songs that you have to sing at an upcoming gig or contest or at church. This is a great resource for church vocalists because most of the time in that setting, you only have a week to learn the song and then perform it. I will also help you learn to sing those songs that you wish you could sing but that one note is holding you back. If you have questions about coaching vs lessons - feel free to email me and I will do my best to help you figure out which is right for you!

Audition…My goal with this meeting is to hear your voice, talk with you about what you are hoping to get out of coaching, what have been your vocal issues in the past, and just a bit about yourself and what you want your voice to be in the future. I am also being interviewed during this process - you need to know if I am what you are looking for and if what I am offering is the right fit for you.

Requirements:

a three ring binder for your lyrics

a recording device - it can be a phone or an old tape player

blank paper to take notes

a highlighter and a pencil and a pen

a lyric book full on songs you already do is also helpful

serious vocalists only (i will work with any age but I am not a voice teacher - I am a coach. This is reserved for people who are already singing on a regular basis. There is an audition/interview before we begin our sessions.)
